Mother Vs Woman
By Anthony J. Mountjoy | Thu, 09 Jun 2016 08:00:00 EST
Some women face a terrible push back when they express their lack of desire for raising children. In a world of ever increasing equality and the options/responsibilities that come with that, its natural to see those options leveraged and many modern women don't want kids as a consequence. Or perhaps they are simply standing up for themselves as many before them wished they could.
Many don't even want to date, quite content to live an empowered life of personal fulfillment. A women doesn't need a man. And a man doesn't need a women. People can stand on their own. That is the mantra of the modern mind.
Perhaps this isn't all good for all people
. Some gender roles might work out pretty well for a lot of people and that isn't a threat to personal choice. It might even be a different kind of diversity that allows situational efficiencies to enhance outcomes in society broadly.
Yet what about the men who date these women? Does it matter that more men than women now want kids? One of the more unexpected role reversals of the progressive age, I'd say...and just did. It's a touchy subject, though. If you're a man, try this experiment, ask the women in your life who don't already have kids if they want kids someday? Count the ones that do and the ones that don't and ask them why? There are many answers to this question, I'd hazard to guess as many different reasons as people. (Not literally, of course.)
When you get your replies, post them here. What did they say? Why don't they want kids? Is it work? Career? Time and effort? Rebellion against the implied biological duty? Whatever it is, Verboten readers want to know! Women are rising to power in a way not seen since the Amazons. Engage the women in your life as people. Men have an opportunity here to grow. Strictly defined gender roles are so...yesterday.
